There were some who wanted to keep Jesus’ resurrection quiet. The authorities knew His resurrection would cause many to believe in Him, so they devised a scheme – they planted a lie and spread it throughout the land. (Mt 28:15) So back in those early days, many were confronted with whether they believed the official story – that the body was stolen, or the story claimed by the apostles – a group of unlearned fishermen from Galilee- that Jesus’ body was raised from the dead. There were many challenges to believing the resurrection in the early days.
Today the facts are divorced from the drama by 2000 years and many are taught as young children that Jesus was raised from the dead. Many believers have not really examined the Scripture, or pondered it, and take in all that His resurrection and ascension mean.
